Buttons and Thanks

A special Thank you goes out to all of you who have helped to make the 2008 Catholic Blog Awards a success. If you were a nominee or a winner and would like to proudly display your award you can download your button here.

Please download the button and place it on your site if you can to help conserve bandwidth here. If you must, you may link to the buttons directly at the CBA site but I can't guarantee that they won't get shifted around and moved eventually.

Another special thank you goes out to Corey Bordelon who so generously donates his time and knowledge to making sure that the nomination and the voting process goes so smoothly. Without Corey I would still be processing all of these votes by hand so I'm very thankful for his assistance. If you haven't yet made a donation, there's still time to do so and your donations help to "inspire" Corey to come up with better features for the CBA!

Another thank you goes out to Jeff Miller of the Curt Jester for again designing and creating the award buttons. I can assure that his button creating did not give him any upper hand in winning any of the awards, no matter what he may tell you.

Again. Next years awards will be as follows:

Nominations - April 20, 2009 - May 1, 2009.
Voting - May 4, 2009 - May 15, 2009.

2009 Catholic Blog Awards

Some of you have made many suggestions this year and I thank you all for your suggestions. Whenever I originally chose the dates for the CBA this year, I didn't take into account Holy Week so next year that will change.

Beginning next year nominations for the CBA will begin on the Monday after the Second Sunday of Easter (often reffered to as Divine Mercy Sunday). Nominations will run Monday - the next friday (two weeks) and voting will begin the next Monday and also run for two weeks.

So that makes next year's Schedule as follows:

Nominations - April 20, 2009 - May 1, 2009.
Voting - May 4, 2009 - April 15, 2009.

I do have a couple of questions and I hope you leave your comments.

1) Do you think that two weeks for nominations and then two weeks for voting is too long, just right, or too short? In the past we did just a week and it seemed too short.

2) Do you think we should try doing run-offs next year? In the past when I hand tabulated this really didn't work well so I stopped it but now since all this is automated we may think about reinstating it if I get enough feedback.

3) Any other comments or suggestions, drop them in the comments below.

Thanks for Voting!

Voting for this year's awards has come to an end. Thanks to all of you who voted and a special thanks to all of you who made donations. The results should be available on this site on Wednesday at noon Central so that I have time to go through and make sure all went all OK and that all those blogs that won were indeed eligible to win (we had a few ineligible blogs in different categories but everyone did a good job in self-policing this.)

One Week Left

This is just a quick reminder that voting will end on Monday, March 17 at Noon.

We've decided to give everyone a preview of the top 10 in each category. They're posted below.

Voting is Now Open!

Voting has now begun. You can vote by logging in and choosing "vote" from the top menu bar once you have logged in.

Thanks for Nominating!

The Nominating process has now ended. Thanks you to all who nomintated your favorite blogs for awards. Voting will begin at Noon CST on Monday, March 4, 2008.

I'd like to take the opportunity to remind everyone about our Sponsor at the left. Also feel free to make a donation to the CBA at the left side. Any amount is helpful. We have a lot of great things in store for next year's voting process so help us to keep up the good work by submitting your comments and suggestions and also your ideas for new categories.

Also, if there's a blog that you suspect shouldn't be nominated because it doesn't meet the qualifications, please drop me an email. The link is located at the bottom of the left sidebar.

Thanks!
